Bera's Poetry Contest 1

Here is the first poetry contest at this forum. The details are as follows:

Theme: Love

Requirements: 2 - 4 stanzas with 4 lines per stanza; only 1 poetry entry

Criteria for judging
- Originality / Uniqueness: 20 pts.
- Grammar: 20 pts.
- Use of words: 20 pts.
- Theme: 30 pts.
- Lessons / Values: 10 pts

Deadline: December 19, 2009 (Saturday)

Prizes:
1st place - 150 points + Certified Poet rank
2nd place - 100 points
3rd place - 50 points

Alright, added. No one joined the first contest, sadly. And, as judge, there should be no biases in judging the contestants' work, alright?

You can enter any poem as long as it fits to the theme which is love. And, you can only enter one entry. I guess I'll be adding you to the contestants list. Good luck!

*This is my entry for the contest hope you like it.

LOVE - by ~0Range-1SL0ve~
I never really knew you,
you were just another friend.
But when I got to know you,
I let my heart unbend.

I couldn't help past memories that would only make me cry,
I had to forget my first love and give love another try.
So I've fallen in love with you, and I'll never let you go,
I love you more than anyone, I just had to let you know.

And if you ever wonder why, I don't know what I'll say.
But I'll never stop loving you each and every day.
My feelings for you will never change, just know my feelings are true.
Just remember one thing..........I Love You!!!!!

Here's my verdict:
Originality / Uniqueness: 15 pts.
Grammar: 20 pts.
Use of words: 15 pts.
Theme: 30 pts.
Lessons / Values: 8 pts.

Total: 88 pts.

Critique:

An impressive job with the poem. However, I just want to point out some things. Your lines are way too long. You should only put little words that are tricky and not easy to understand like what poem writers do. I've actually read poems similar to this which is the reason why I gave you 15 pts. for uniqueness. And, there are some cheesy lines too.

But, it's right on spot with the theme, a reason why I gave you a perfect 30 for that. Grammar seems fine but the use of words kind of disturbed me but not really. As I said, the long length of lines. For values, I gave you 8 pts. Your poem has its lessons but not really spotted on.

Overall, a good and impressive job wit hthe poem! If no one enters and submits their work by tomorrow, you'll win by default. I hope to see you in the next poetry contest! And maybe, you can also enter the Holiday Contest.

Haha. I also thought that you wrote it in a hurry because I also make my stories kinda rough when I'm not in the writing mood or when I'm in a hurry to post it.
